SUSTAINABLE POLITICS

Building a greener and more sustainable future for everyone.
Our country is heading down a dark path. The politics of fear and hate are driving the public agenda by blaming immigration, minorities, and other divisive issues rather than focussing on the root issues of the problems we face today. This has an impact on our ability to tackle climate change, which itself is connected to economic and social issues. To put it simply, we live in a time where everything is expensive and nothing works, billionaires are doubling their wealth, the working class can't grow their wealth, and the middle class are losing their wealth. The future of the UK looks bleak, so we need to inspire hope once again and put forward a vision of a brighter future, a GREENER future.

I rejoined the Green Party in 2025, 10 years after I first joined, which inspired me to start my career in sustainability at the time, because under this new leadership we can be a real voice for change. I come from a working class background and I've had to work hard to build a successful career so far but it's still not enough, you can't win when the game is rigged. Our societal system isn't designed to address poverty, inequality, billionaires and corporations not paying their fair share, collapsing public services and of course, climate change. The Green Party is now boldly calling this out, and offering policies to make a difference.

Politics can play a crucial role in tackling climate change by establishing comprehensive policies that regulate greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainability. Through legislation, our government can set stringent targets for reducing carbon footprints, incentivise a phased transition to renewable energy sources, and facilitate investments in green technologies.

Additionally, our political leaders can foster international cooperation by participating in global treaties and agreements that hold countries accountable for their climate commitments. Supporting public awareness campaigns and integrating climate education into relevant policies can mobilise citizen engagement, encouraging individual and collective action. Ultimately, a coordinated political approach is essential for driving systemic change and creating a  sustainable future.
